As fall is quickly approaching many hunters are looking for their first opportunity to get outside and start the hunting season and get tuned up for early teal season. One of my favorite early season hunts just happens to be going after doves.

When it comes to family heirlooms, there are many types. In my family, guns are one of the most sacred heirlooms passed on through generations. These aren’t just any gun or guns; but guns with stories, a history, and something to be remembered.

When it comes to planning and preparing for fall hunts there are many ways to accomplish this. You want to ensure your gear is in tip top condition, your guns are sighted in, and that you've spent sufficient time at the range shooting.

Summer activities come in a variety of forms, but in my opinion the best of all are the activities that are not only fun but help others!

When it comes to a list of fun summer activities, bow fishing always remains at the top of my list. Not only can it be a fun way to spend some time outdoors, but you’re also doing a great thing for the environment. Carp are an invasive species that have taken over many lakes and rivers across the country.

Since I was a little girl, I loved to hunt waterfowl. We spent most weekends in a make -shift duck blind on public land patiently waiting for our next shot. We didn’t have hundreds of chances, so we needed to make our shots count. One way we did this was by shooting trap in our backyard as a family.

When it comes to summer fun, there are so many good things to do outside! So many people get caught up in spending their time with electronics, but it’s time to change it up a bit and still have just as much fun…or more!

Summer tends to be a time many sit back, relax, and dig their feet in the sand at the beach. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with any these options…Pork Chop and I have different plans!

When it comes to safe storage and handling of guns you can never be too cautious. In my household it’s just Pork Chop and me. However, I still keep my guns and ammo locked up at all times and this is for a variety of reasons. First, I want to try and prevent theft or robbery.

When it comes to late season turkey hunting, you’re dealing with some very wary birds! These guys have heard and seen it all, so tread lightly! Less is more!

When it comes to bringing kids out hunting, going after turkeys is one of my favorite places to begin. Turkey hunting is an interactive experience and lends itself well to hunting with kids.
